NGC 7000 (North America Nebula)

NGC 7000 (North America Nebula)

Type:
Emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus (altern. name: North America nebula). The North America and Pelican nebulae (IC 5070) are part of an approximately 100 Ly wide ionized hydrogen region. What star(s) is (are) responsible for heating the gas has long been unknown. Recently, the 2MASS infrared telescope, concentrating on the area obscured by dust, has shown that there is a massive O-type star in the general area of the nebulae, which is the most likely source of the nebula's radiation.

Visual Brightness: 4.0 mag / Distance ~ 2500 Ly

Equipment:
Vaonis Stellina 80/400, single exposures of 10s (total 4h 18min), stacked: Stellina (mosaic mode), postproc.: Affinity Photo + TOPAZ denoise + FITSwork
