IC 1318 + NGC 6910

IC 1318 + NGC 6910

Type:
The Sadr (star) Region (also known as IC 1318 or the Gamma Cygni Nebula) is the diffuse emission nebula surrounding Sadr at the center of Cygnus's cross. The open cluster NGC 6910 can be identified right to Sadr.

IC 1318 is part of the Cygnus-X star formation region. This region is the remnant of a supernova (SNR G78.2+2.1) that happened there at approx. 6800-10000 years ago. The shock wave of this supernova triggered formation of new stars.

The open cluster NGC 6910 was first discovered on 17-th October, 1786 by the British-German Astronomer Wilhelm Herschel. Visual Brightness: 7.4 mag

Visual Brightness (IC 1318) ~ 14 mag
Distance ~ 1500 Ly
Date: 10-th September, 2023 / Moon: 14% (-)

Equipment: Stellina 80/400, mosaic mode 10s (3h 56m total), stacked: Stellina, postproc.: FITSwork + TOPAZ denoise + Affinity Photo
